About the Zambezi Region

Namibia’s Zambezi Region is a narrow strip of lush land in northeastern Namibia with off-the-beaten-track national parks teeming with wildlife and spectacular natural surrounds. Animals cross freely from Botswana, and some of the species in this area (including buffalo, hippo and crocodiles) are hard to find elsewhere in Namibia. It’s a bucket list destination for the adventurous traveller, and a must for anyone looking for an amazing safari in Namibia.

Bwabwata National Park

On the banks of the Kwando River in the Zambezi Region is a sanctuary for wildlife and an oasis for visitors.

Set within the Bwabwata National Park, Nambwa Tented Lodge offers the ultimate wildlife viewing experience, with 35 large and small species and over 330 bird species roaming freely throughout the area.

Activities at Nambwa Tented Lodge

Nambwa is a wildlife hotspot, with viewing opportunities from the private or communal decks or in interactive and exciting game drives. It’s the only lodge in the area approved for night game drives, and nature walks during the day offer a great way of getting up close and personal with its wild inhabitants.

You could also enjoy a spot of water-based game viewing on a unique river safari. However you decide to embark on your game viewing experience, you’ll see countless herds of elephants, water buffalo, sable, wildebeest, zebra and giraffe as well as lions, wild dogs and leopards. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the abundance of feathered friends, and stargazers will spend hours gazing up at the clear night skies.

There’s a swimming pool for cooling off on a hot African day while the hippos splash around in the river nearby.  Authentic cultural tours and community experiences are also on offer for those wanting to learn more about local life.

Whether you’re most tempted by the idea of Riverside relaxation with an ice-cold G&T or exploring the landscape on a nighttime wildlife adventure, you’re sure to love this one-of-a-kind safari destination.
