Island Immersion
There is so much to do at Kisawa, we hardly know where to start!
Adventurous guests can kitesurf in some of the best water and wind conditions in the world, kayak through the incredible mangrove ecosystem, canoe or paddle board from right in front of their Residence, snorkel one of the three house reefs, or even join a scientific diving expedition.
Wildlife enthusiasts can soak up the magic of whale season from July to October, when the Mozambique Channel becomes the ideal breeding and nursing ground for humpback whales. There are also hundreds of flamingos to marvel at on Flamingo Beach, and over 150 local bird species and gazelle to spot on a guided hike. For real nature lovers, there’s even an opportunity to camp between the dunes, forest, and shore of one of the Kisawa beaches!
For a traditional experience, guests can join a guided tour of the local villages, learn the ancestral fishing techniques of the Benguerra Island community, or sail around the calm Kisawa cove on a traditional fishing dhow. Want to head out further on the water? Hop aboard one of Kisawa’s Axopar boats and travel to Bazaruto, Paradise or Magaruque Islands, where you might even be lucky enough to spot one of the only 200 dugongs left in the region!
