Kafunta River Lodge
Kafunta River Lodge, consists of only 10 rooms with a fantastic view over a floodplain and the Luangwa River. This stunning place is the perfect start to explore an amazing part of Zambia.
This classic safari lodge is located in one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Zambia’s South Luangwa Park.
The lodge was recently completely renovated in 2019! The Fig Tree Spa and the Widlife Hide are two fantastic areas to spend the day at the lodge if you are not heading out for an adventurous walking safari or 4×4 tour of the National Park.

Kafunta Bush Camp
Shaded by ancient mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River, the authentic Zambian bush camp is the gateway to one of the most remote and unspoilt areas of South Luangwa National Park.
Island Bush Camp is a pure wilderness experience with walking safaris at the core of its activities. You’ll get the feeling the whole park is just open for you.
The drive to Island Bush Camp takes you through forests and river landscapes, while passing through a number of authentic villages. At the camp, views stretch from the Chindeni Hills in the eastern corners of the Luangwa Valley to the Muchinga Escarpment in the west, forming the full natural boundary of this remote and painfully beautiful wilderness. Every day offers new and unique experiences.
High on wooden platforms, the five bus chalets are completely open at the front, offering a view over the river and allowing the sound of the bush to drift undisturbed. Enjoy the tasteful and natural style of the decoration and observe the hippos in the river while taking a warm shower for a restful night under tented mosquito nets.
Walk Safaris.
Walking safaris are our main activity in this pristine place, an opportunity to explore the bush on a different level. Accompanied by our professional guides and accompanied by an armed park explorer, take a slow walk in search of different species of wildlife and take time to hear about the wonders of nature that are too often overlooked on game drives . Exploring the bush on foot, being on the ground around wildlife is thrilling and shouldn’t be missed.
THREE RIVERS CAMP
Three Rivers Camp is the latest addition to Kafunta Safaris’ portfolio and is located at the crossing of the Luangwa, Kapamba and Lusangazi Rivers. The stylish tents are set under shady “sausage trees” overlooking the Luangwa River or the game-rich lagoon.
The rooms are spaced far apart with wildlife roaming through the camp. The dining area offers boundless views of both the Luangwa and Kapamba rivers, where hippos love to bask on the white river sand.
Three of the tents are right on the lagoon’s edge, teeming with wildlife. Here the guests love to relax on the plush daybeds while observing giraffes and waterbuck.
For the guests who subsequently go to Island Bush Camp, we recommend walking between both camps, it is a walking safari you’ll never forget!
