One-of-a-kind Location
Bumi Hills lies on the remote slopes of one of Zimbabwe’s most awe-inspiring landscapes, overlooking the largest man-made lake in the world – Lake Kariba.
The surroundings of the lodge are nothing short of captivating, with ancient forests, large grassland expanses and the glimmering waters of the lake – all with wildlife from Matusadona National Park taking full advantage of the area’s richness and resources.
With the endless trove of wildlife exploring the arena, the sloshing of water along the coast and the unending feeling of peace amongst the sunken trees enveloped by the lake, Bumi Hills is the perfect retreat for weary travellers looking for a softer, slower adventure.
A Sumptuous Sanctuary
Offering ten spacious suites embellished with luxurious fixtures and sublime views of the lake to wake up to, Bumi Hills is an intimate oasis that spares no expense to make guests feel like luxury.
The Baobab Villa is a wonderful option for families travelling together. The two-bedroom Villa includes its own private living areas, bar and dining deck, and includes the services of a private butler, safari guide and a dedicated safari vehicle.
Take to the Lake and Land
Thanks to the lush supply of natural resources found in Matusadona National Park and the Park’s non-hunting proclamation of 1958, the area surrounding Lake Kariba is teeming with wildlife and regenerative vegetation.
The wildlife that you can expect to discover on a game drive or a walking safari include elephant, buffalo, waterbuck, zebra, and impala, as well as predators and birdlife that make prey of the omnivores and herbivores that make their way to the water’s edge.
Further off land, on a sunset cruise or fishing trip, you can spot huge Nile crocodiles, powerful African fish eagles and slippery bream, tiger trout and vundu, among others, using the lake as their hunting ground.
Whether in the bright light of noon, or in the hush tones of the night, wildlife viewing opportunities are abundant here!
So Much to Discover
During the down time between safari experiences, you can enjoy visiting the local communities in the surrounding areas, and learning their traditional ways and tales of the land they call home.
You can also turn your gaze upwards and enjoy bird watching, and trying to snap a picture of a giant kingfisher, a majestic Squacco heron and a Collared pratincole, or even sit back campfire-side and surrender as the stars seep through the darkness and dominate the land at night.
Guests with children needn’t worry about them remaining entertained, as the team at Bumi Hills offers a range of exciting activities for younger guests. These include nature walks around camp, arts and crafts, cooking lessons and more.
While the kids are kept busy, mom and dad can schedule a deluxe treatment at the blissful spa and enjoy the sparkling waters of the infinity pool that offers uninterrupted views of Lake Kariba and the great creatures that roam the land.
