Why go to Mozambique

What to expect from a Mozambique Luxury Safari.

Mozambique is probably one of Africa’s best kept secrets but although the country has abundant wildlife there are not many opportunities yet to visit these national parks. Since the worldwide known Kruger Park shares its eastern border completely with Mozambique, we at Atelier Africa believe the best Luxury Safari is a combination of some of the outstanding reserves you find in South-Africa with a total relaxing Mozambique Beach Holiday. Land a small private island with only one resort.

Bazaruto Archipelago

This archipelago located in the southern part of Mozambique exists out of five islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Bangue. It is probably one of the most beautiful locations on the African Coast. The perfect location to wind down to the rhythm of island life, relax, dive, swim, eat, drink and maybe even have some spa treatments.

Quirimbas Archipelago

At Atelier Africa we’ve always been big supporters of the Quirimbas Archipelago in the northern part of Mozambique. It is a bit further to get to but the beaches are some of the finest in the world and the hotels we have on offer are absolutely outstanding!

The biggest difference between Quirimbas and Bazaruto is that Bazaruto is much busier since it lies more south. The diving and fishing parts are also used by some of the mainland hotels.  Quirimbas really is the more private and remote destination, but Bazaruto is still home to some absolute stunning resorts.

Honeymoon on Mozambique

Maputo & Catembe

Maputo is the capital of Mozambique with an amazing history and once called the most beautiful city on the African Coast. Today many beautiful building are left of this history and a walk in the city is absolutely worth it.  For dinner definitely try out the Maputo Fish market. You first buy the fish or seafood you like fresh from the market and then take it a few metres further to one of the many restaurants around it to have it prepared. An unforgettable experience! When you have the option to meet some locals to take you in to the Maputo nightlife don’t hesitate for a second.

Bush & Beach Safari Ponta Mamoli

Within easy driving distance from South Africa’s Kruger National Park, Mozambique is the perfect combination to turn your safari into a luxury Bush & Beach Safari. When travelling by plane it is only a short flight to hop over to one of the islands of the coast of Mozambique.
In case you have opted for a 4×4 Self-Drive Safari we suggest you must see the capital Maputo and continue towards the south coast of Mozambique, to Ponta Mamoli where you will find the White Pearl Resort, a stunning luxurious retreat offering the same luxurious setup as the islands destinations, but easier to reach and closer to the South Africa boarder.
